PureOS is the first Linux operation system dedicated to 64-bit computing systems.

We have long believed that Linux would become the future operating systems. Though there were speculations about transition into 64-bit computing systems, it did not happen as fast as people would have hoped.
With overall increase of performance speed in mind, we have developed PureOS, a pure 64-bit operation system based in Linux.
Our mission is to go back to the roots of Linux, creating friendlier environment for beginners to learn and use, yet, satisfying those who are more advanced.
PureOS is one of first companies to develop a pure 64-bit OS based on Linux for 64-bit High Performance Computers. The advantage of pre 64-bit system -- not 32-bit & 64-bit hybrids, -- is increase of performance speed, and reliability
The most obvious difference between 32-it and 64-bit system is that 64-bit systems can address more than 4GB of RAM, whereas 64-bit systems can use upto 16 Terabytes. Modern applications are not only large by themselves, but they also require a lot of memory to operate. Memory limitations may not come into play when just using single applications, but when you’re using multiple applications at once, or are multitasking on your computer, it becomes a factor.
Less visible benefits are noticeable when using computing-intensive applications, such as CAD, video encoding, music editing, cryptography, etc. Also, it will be the only choice when using applications that deal with large amount of data, such as massive databases, scientific simulations. Such programs can gain a huge performance benefits by moving over to 64-bits.
By the same token, 32-bit software may actually decrease in performance when running them in a 64-bit only environment, since 64-bit systems may actually be slower when moving small bits of data around.
Working together with Infitech, our hardware manufacturing partner, we have designed workstation and server line titled Pure64, which provides full benefits of PureOS. PureOS is avaliable as OEM software mounted on Pure64 workstation and server.
The software can be downloaded via our PureOS site, however, full version is not available yet, and will become available for download early 2008.
PureOS is a proud supporter of Linux community, and always will. We believe in providing back to the community that we were able to benefit from.
We are currently working on building Pure-linux.org, which will be dedicated to open source community of Linux. We plan to fully disclose our developments in our community site. If you are interested in PureOS Developer's Community, please email us for more information.
